At our dog friendly buildings we allow dogs that are quiet, not aggressive, and are not extremely energetic.  If your dog does not meet all three of these requirements, it is not allowed to live in our apartment buildings no matter what breed it is.

Dog breeds that typically do well in apartments are:

  • Bulldogs
  • Boxers
  • Golden Retrievers
  • Greyhounds
  • Labrador Retrievers
  • Llasa Apsos
  • Scottish Terrier
  • Shi Tzus
  • Whippets

There are several breeds of dogs that we do not allow because the majority of dogs in the breed do not meet all of our requirements.  The breeds that are not allowed include:

  • American Staffordshire
  • Beagles
  • Chihuahuas
  • Chow Chows
  • Dalmatians
  • Doberman Pinschers
  • German Shepherds
  • Great Danes
  • Huskies
  • Malamutes
  • Mastiffs
  • Miniature Pinschers
  • Old English Sheepdogs
  • Papillons
  • Pit Bulls
  • Pinschers
  • Presa Canarios
  • Rottweilers
  • Staffordshire Bull Terrier
If your dog is a mix breed that includes one of the breeds we do not allow, it will not be allowed.  If your dog's breed is not listed above, and we are unable to verify that it will meet our requirements then we will not allow it.

It is important to note that if your dog violates one of our requirements you will need to find a new home for it.  If you also choose to move you may owe a lease buyout fee depending on how long you have lived in the apartment.

Often people ask why our apartments restrict loud, aggressive, or highly energetic dogs.  One main reason we do this is because our dog-friendly apartments are located in buildings filled with multiple apartments, and do not have fenced-in yards.  Also, other residents living in the building may not feel comfortable around aggressive, loud, and highly energetic dogs.  We recommend that people with loud, aggressive, or highly energetic dogs rent a house or an apartment that has its own access and a fenced-in yard.

Service dogs are allowed, however there are additional forms that are required to be filled out for service dogs. Service dogs are still required to be quiet, not aggressive, and not extremely energetic. Only real service dogs are allowed, not ones where you buy a certificate or vest on the Internet (see this story about the results of people having fake service dogs).
