Biking instead of taking your car on short trips can provide many benefits, both to the environment and your health.  Biking in place of driving can greatly reduce pollution and is also much less stressful than sitting in rush hour traffic.  You could also take a bike ride to the bus stop or light rail stations for further trips.  Biking is one of the easiest ways to exercise and it provides many benefits, including increased stamina and muscle tone, improved cardiovascular fitness, improved heart health, improved coordination, reduced stress, and burning lots of calories (around 300 calories per hour).

Live Green Apartments does many things to support biking and have been listed by the League of American Bicyclist as a Bicyclist Friendly Business.

We support Nice Ride Minnesota, where people can simply take a bike when they need one, and return it to any station in the system when they arrive at their destination. It's quick, easy and affordable.  There is a Nice Ride Station next to our apartments at Dale & Grand.

During 2009 we coordinated a project with the Grand Avenue Business Association (GABA), Macalester Groveland Community Council (MGCC), the Summit Hill Association (SHA), the City of Saint Paul, and Dero Bike racks to install 66 bike racks along Grand Ave (totaling 150 bike parking spaces).

We promote biking in the neighborhood by donating bicycles left behind by residents to local non profits including the Express Bike Shop (exbike.com) and the Cycle for Change (cyclesforchange.org).

We also have bike map posters in each laundry room to help residents find the best routes to use with their bikes.
